Globally, the stats for female company founders are nowhere near where they should be. The success of prominent female leaders such as Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg and Yahoo's Marissa Mayer are bringing more attention to women in leadership positions. Connie Loizos of TechCrunch has recently compiled a list of "40 Female Founders Who Crushed It in 2016", in which she lines up a crop of women who are not only leading, but also launching startups. The list may be local to North America, but for the rest of the world, it provides not only inspiration for aspiring females, but also a slew of great business ideas.
